MISSION

The mission of Afro Global Youth Exchange is to build resilient African societies through social entrepreneurship and sport. KEYS TO SUCCESS

There are four key elements we will accomplish to succeed:

  1. Learning about what works and improving existing models.

  2. Building a strong support base with the private sector, government and civil society locally and internationally.

  3. Mobilizing new resources, both regionally and globally.

  4. Utilize the unique expertise of both the founder and value network partners to offer increased value to the continent.

SERVICES

INTER-CULTURAL EXCHANGE PROGRAMMES FOR YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS

The exchange programmes provide a platform for dialogue, collaboration and partnerships across industries, sectors, countries and regions among youth entrepreneurs in Africa. A major objective of these exchange programmes is to cultivate business and social networks as well as examine opportunities and challenges for youth entrepreneurs and governments to work effectively together to promote innovation and achieve scale and momentum for youth employment, economic growth, peace and development in Africa through entrepreneurship.

OLYMPIC TRUCE WORKSHOPS

The Olympic Truce has survived since 776 BC. The aim of the Olympic Truce workshops is to create an understanding of the inspirational power of sport through the ideals of Olympism and the Olympic Truce, to ensure that this ancient peace accord will play a role in promoting peace, dialogue and reconciliation amongst future generations. The Founder and President of Afro Global Youth Exchange is a UNESCO-Olympic Truce Youth Peace Ambassador representing South Africa and he is currently the Regional Coordinator for the Olympic Truce Peace Campaign Network. Our programmes and workshops are built on four pillars:

  • Lectures and workshops;

  • Field trips; and

  • Literatures.

LIFE SKILLS TRAINING THROUGH BASKETBALL

Playing basketball is about more than just throwing a ball through a hoop — it’s also about learning important skills that will last a lifetime.

The notion behind the life skills workshops is to further basketball skills development, but even more so, to use the sport as a common language to teach far greater life lessons. The goal is to ensure that each player leaves with more resources and knowledge related to the pursuit of greater possibilities for their future.

We offer teens an opportunity to learn and develop life skills in a supportive environment.  Community and personal development is promoted through teamwork, fair play, life skills and fun. Workshop topics are intended to be relevant to youth: drug use, career exploration, special needs awareness, Ubuntu, sexual health, financial management, peer pressure and nutrition.  These workshops are intended to empower teens in making positive life choices, and providing a platform for them to take the initiative to lead in some workshops involving a topic of interest they are currently experiencing.
