The Management Authority of lakes Koroneia and Volvi is a protected area of 2.120.000acres in north Greece. The area is protected by EU and national law, the two lakes are also protected by the Ramsar treaty, and the whole area belongs to the NATUTRA 2000 network. As a government organisation we are responsible for: 1. Managing and protecting the area 2. Monitoring birds 3. Monitoring quality and quantity of water 4. Patroling the area 5. Applying environmental and educational programms 6. Promoting ecotourism 7. Promoting good practices of sustainable management
