| The destination has clear and enforced guidelines in place for the siting, maintenance and testing of discharge from septic tanks and wastewater treatment systems, and ensures wastes are properly treated and reused or released safely with minimal adverse effects to the local population and the environment. INDICATORS: • Regulations for the siting, maintenance, and testing of discharge from septic tanks and wastewater treatment systems, and evidence of their enforcement.
• Regulations to ensure the size and type of waste water treatment is adequate for the location, and evidence of their enforcement.
• Program to assist enterprises to effectively treat and reuse wastewater.
• Program to ensure proper treatment of wastes and safe reuse or release with minimal adverse effects.
