The Sustainable Tourism Programme of the 10-Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production Patterns catalyzes changes in tourism operations. It promotes transformation for sustainability through efficiency, innovation and adaptability. The Programme will support evidence-based decision-making; adopt a life cycle approach for continuous improvement, emphasize collaboration among stakeholders and results-based project implementation.
The Sustainable Tourism Programme was developed based on regional consultations, stock taking exercise and global survey on existing data and initiatives on sustainable tourism, engaging nearly 400 actors, as well as relevant UN agencies, resolutions and programmes
