The University of Algarve Portugal has recently been involved in the establishment of a large PhD research team with a strong focus on tourism and regional development. It is a key player in the practical development of the Algarve destination and its SME businesses, with good links to administrative, business and community -based tourism stakeholders.
The Algarve Nature Tourism Network consists in a regional cluster, which seeks to promote and establish continuing contacts and relationships between regional and local providers of the tourism industry.
This initiative aims to develop a knowledge network, which allows public institutions and private companies to overcome challenges and seize opportunities through experience and information exchange. The dynamics expected for this cluster also include a greater awareness of the opportunities arising from cooperation and collaboration between actors.
