My profile

Elena Viani is a designer and specialist in sustainable tourism and local development. She works with public institutions, private bodies and DMOs and develops EU projects to co-create strategies that connect culture, sustainability, and territorial innovation.

She has experience in EU projects within Erasmus+, Cosme, Horizon, Interreg Programmes (SocialTech4EU, iStars, Polis Lombardia), international cooperation in rural areas (Leader programme, PM for cooperation initiatives within LAGs), national PNRR (Ministry of Culture’s Attractiveness of Villages programme within the UNESCO site of Sabbioneta); in local governance processes and in sustainability planning for destinations (APT in Trentino, Mantua). She is part of the national research and monitoring team of the National Plan for Cinema and Images for Schools (MiC–MIM).

Professor of sustainable tourism and planning at the University of Milano-Bicocca and collaborated with the University of Bergamo. In 2022, she co-founded ACTA – Sensi Contemporanei, where she leads tourism and training projects at national and international level.
