In addition to environmental operations initiatives that have achieved a 15% reduction in carbon emissions, the purchase of fuel efficient new planes, and the use of biofuel in all of its ground transportation fleet, the airline also partners with other organizations through its Air New Zealand Trust to support biodiversity conservation projects in New Zealand as well as provide air transport for the relocation of threatened wildlife species. With a company-wide Green Team, the airline also supports environmental education initiatives for school children and supports the protection of Maori cultural heritage.
