Primarely, Warta Mouth National Park was created to protect the
unique wetland habitats crucial for over 270 species of water and wading birds. The park is also a
dedicated member of the Nature 2000 Network and draws visitors looking for
adventure. There are a number of biking, walking and canoeing trails. The Warta River Mouth
area is also a region of great cultural and historical significance. The park is easily
accessible by train and only 70 kilometers from Berlin, so measures have
been taken to maintain its popularity, but also keep it as a place to
relax in peace and tranquility. Winner of the "2009 Tourism and protected areas award" as a European Destination of Excellence (EDEN).
