In the province of Limburg, nestled in the southern part of the Netherlands adjacent to the
German borderies the Park
Gravenrode is quite a contrast to
the rest of Holland with
its rolling hills and rising landscapes. The park once was a mining region and therefore empty for nearly 25 years before the local Dutch
municipalities began the transformation to an area for leisure and recreation. The Park got designated as a Destination of Excellence in 2009 and won the EDEN award for special achievements in "Tourism and protected areas".
