Black Sheep Inn is an ecologically friendly hotel high in the Andes Mountains of Ecuador. Perched on a hillside the rural eco-lodge is a perfect place to discover centuries-old culture and diverse ecosystems. We offer affordable accommodation and provide a great base for day hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, acclimatizing and exploring indigenous markets. We supported and initiated various programms which benefit the local community like establishing a local Public Library/Computer Learning Center, sponsoring workshops in family planning, guiding skills in native flora and fauna, guiding ethics, first-aid for hikers, nutrition and women’s health, and knitting. Locally knit crafts are displayed and sold in the lodge and proceeds go directly to the artisans. We received the 2006 Ecolodge Award for building a Community Recycling Center and the 2008 Ecolodge Award for starting a Native Tree Nursery. All water is recycled and all gardening organic.
