One of Austria's "must-see" parks! The local community has developed a plan of "green" energy use, farming and transportation. Nearly 50% of products made in the region are organic. Some of the most spectacular hiking and skiing conditions in Europe are available here with environmentally friendly transportation offered to everyone. In 2007, the Grosse Walsertal won an energy award for their development of two biomass heating plants that saved nearly 280,000 litres of heating oil in one year. Winner of the "Tourism and protected areas" Award 2009 (project European Destinations of Excellence EDEN).
