Apuseni Natural Park in the Apuseni Mountains in western Romania combines a magnitude of
unmatched natural landscapes with well-diversified ecosystems. With
over 1500 caves, Apuseni is an explorer's paradise
and famous for its alpine sports facilities. Hodobana, a massive underground labyrinth that meanders more than 21
kilometers, is a "must-see" attraction. The park is also home to over 1,550 different
plant species a vast number of bears, lynxes and wolves. Winner of the "2009 Tourism and protected areas award" (EDEN project - European Destinations of Excellence).
