In the frame of the Universal Forum of Cultures Barcelona 2004, the International Dialogue "Tourism, Cultural Diversity and Sustainable Development" will be celebrated. The Forum which will take place in Barcelona (Spain) from May 9th to September 26th 2004, is a world-wide event based on the promotion of the cultures and the arts, designed to improve the living together through the intercultural dialogue and the celebration in general. The Institute of Responsible Tourism (ITR), an international organisation associated to UNESCO, acts as the Technical Secretariat, collaborating in the direction and organization of the International Dialogue "Tourism, Cultural Diversity and Sustainable Development", which is to be celebrated from 14th to 16th July 2004. The Dialogue will be a meeting-point for more than 1.500 leading stakeholders and people interested in the tourist activities, becoming a space dedicated to open debate and free discussion. The main topic areas will revolve around TOURISM and CULTURAL AND NATURAL HERITAGE, Responsible Tourism from the perspective of the TOURIST INDUSTRY and the SUSTAINABLE TOURIST DESTINATIONS. Likewise, other topics will be treated linked to EDUCATION, TRAINING, INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION, NEW TECHNOLOGIES and ETHIC as aspects of a Responsible and Sustainable Tourism, essential to achieve a world in PEACE. For these reasons the Dialogue is addressed to: - International organisations - Professionals of the tourist industry, culture and environment. - Public Administrations of tourism, culture, environment and sustainability. - Experts, scientists, students and academic world in general. - Related NGO's. - Auxiliary Industry and suppliers of technology, equipment, etc. - Civil Society and Public interested in the topics. The dynamics of the Dialogue will assume participation and discussion as a prior objective, programming a formal part, which includes presentations and round tables, and a more participative and dynamic section in which meetings, debates, and Groups of Work on specific topics will be carried out, as well as the possibility of presenting COMMUNICATIONS and EXPERIENCES. Another characteristic to be emphasized is the fact that there will be an stand where one will have the chance to present initiatives, products or services related to the topics of the Dialogue.
