GREEN GLOBE 21 Sustainable Tourism Conference GREEN GLOBE is pleased to advise details of its very first Conference. DATE 3 March 2004 to 5 March 2004 VENUE Takahanga Marae, Kaikoura, Marlborough, New Zealand CONFERENCE THEMES AND TOPICS In addition to keynote addresses from leaders in the sustainable tourism sector, the GREEN GLOBE 21 Sustainable Tourism Conference will have three themes; WHAT IS SUSTAINABLE TOURISM? Presentations on general sustainable tourism themes from tourism organisations, researchers and others. SUSTAINABLE TOURISM SUCCESSES Success stories from communities, operators and others in the sustainable tourism industry, lessons learned, barriers faced. ACHIEVING SUSTAINABLE TOURISM A more technical stream, hear how your organisation or community can become sustainable with sessions from organisations providing solutions to those environmental problems. CALL FOR PAPERS We want your paper for our 2004 conference to say what actions and activities you have underway that are giving affect to a sustainable tourism industry. We are seeking papers from people within the Tourism Industry, Operators, Communities, Researchers and others that will help us meet the challenge of achieving a sustainable future. ABSTRACT SUBMISSION DATE Monday 1st December 2003 You are invited to submit an abstract within the suggested themes. Please advise by email to kdc@kaikoura.govt.nz that you will be submitting an abstract and a submission form will be sent to you by return. Authors are responsible for their own expenses and must register for the conference. PUBLICATION OF PAPERS Papers (along with their abstracts) accepted for presentation will be published on Conference CD. SOCIAL EVENTS A pre-opening registration will take place on the eve of the conference at the Kaikoura Wine Company which will give the opportunity to catch up with old friends and to get to know new ones. There will also be a guest speaker. The formal conference dinner on Thursday 4 March 2004 will be held at Hapuku Lodge, which is set on a deer farm below the majestic Kaikoura Seaward range of mountains. All food served will be organic and locally sourced. Local seafood will be served along with wine from our very own Kaikoura Wine Company. ACCOMMODATION We urge you to book your accommodation early.
